San Antonio Xmas
We headed south for Christmas this year and booked a room on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas. We flew down on Christmas Day and spent 5 days in Texas and had a blast enjoying some warmer weather and a bustling city. Over the week we visited The Alamo along with all the other area Missions, took in the River Walk, visited Six Flags, and visited the Natural Bridge Caverns.

Day One
We spent our first full day in San Antonio visiting the world famous Alamo Mission, formally known as the Mission San Antonio de Valero. We started our day with the short walk over to Alamo Square from our hotel, grabbed some coffee, and waited under the public pergola for the rain to stop. The tour of the Alamo is fantastic and is free which makes it even better. Later that same day we caught an evening boat cruise along the River Walk, which accidentally included floating through the Alamo Bowl Pep Rally hosted for the BYU Cougars and Colorado Buffalos. This included a stop right next to the CU Marching Band as they played the CU Fight Song. We ended the day with a short walk over to the San Fernando Cathedral.

Day Two
Day two was all about Six Flags, we spent the evening there enjoying the rides and fireworks after a relaxing day of shopping.
Day Three
We spend the third day visiting the Natural Bridge Caverns in the hill country. The caverns are really nice, they have a couple of separate complexes that are different depending on whether they are inhabited by bats or not. Besides the cave tour, we listened to live music and playing cribbage while the kids played on the rope course.
Day Four
The fourth day was all about the Missions of San Antonio. Besides the more famous Alamo, there are four other missions; Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada. These missions are all very different and are in different capacities today. A couple of them still have active church services which we happened to visit on Sunday. These are amazing structures and absolutely worth a visit.
